Über Anwendungen der Variationsrechnung auf technische Eigenwertprobleme
Approximate methods for solving eigenvalue-problems are developed and illustrated by the example of symmetrical oscillations of a circular plate in its own plane. The foundation of these studies, including the well known methods by Ritz and Grammel, is the principle of Hamilton, transformed into its canonical form. Two methods of approximation are compared with regard to their accuracy and practical applicability.
