Historical children's books

The collection of children's and young adults books of the Universitätsbibliothek Braunschweig has been build up after the Second World War at the former Kant-Hochschule (since 1947 Pädagogische Hochschule) in Brunswick. The most important part of the collection, which has been outsourced from Berlin to Brunswick during the war, was donated by the Westphalian collector Karl Hobrecker and his wife Margarete. With the unification of the libraries of the Technische Uiversität and the Pädagogische Hochschule in 1971 the collection passed into ownership of the Universitätsbibliothek Braunschweig. By donation (i.a. Margret and Rolf Rettich and Barbara Bartos-Höppner) the collection now contains more than 28,000 volumes.
